Rocche del Crasto
Walking where the eagles fly.
Last week, I visited Longi, a little village on the “Nebrodi” chain called also “Caronie”, the mountains run from “Peloritani” on the eastern part of the island to the foothill, the Madonie mountains to the west, facing the Tyrrhenian sea on the north. Mount Etna, from witch it separated by the rivers of Alcantara and Simeto forms the range's southern border. They form the Sicilian Apennines.
The stones range mostly made up of sandstone and clay rocks, but include also limestone landscapes, like the “Rocche del Crasto”. The Name of this rocks probably burned by a Greek town called “Krastos”. The vegetation are composed by beech trees, brooms and many types of flowers and plants. Everywhere lakes or spring give you a fresh moment. This is a land were is possible to walk and observe a animal paradise: the real eagle and others rapacious fly free, ready to see themselves from who want to observe the sky in a silent contemplation.
